Auckland high school bands, musicians and singers will be showcasing their talent in June at live music events across the city organised by youth and open to teenagers.
New Found Sound, now in its fourth year, aims to give local youth access to a fun and safe live gig space with performances by local talented musicians.
Adam Brown-Rigg, manager of Raise Up – the YMCA youth development programme running the events – says previous New Found Sound gigs have proven to be enormously popular for local young people.
“The New Found Sound events are a great way to showcase the creative talents of local young people, and are a great drug and alcohol free environment where teenagers can come and experience some great live music.
Last year’s New Found Sound events attracted dozens of bands and large audiences across Auckland. This year’s events feature another stellar line-up of home-grown talent sure to attract large crowds.
The event is organised by the YMCA’s Raise Up youth development programme which helps groups of teenagers aged 13 to 18 organise and run local events for youth and by youth. This year’s 2018 New Sound Found events include gigs in west, south, north, central and east Auckland.
