Auckland high school bands, musicians and singers are set to showcase their talent in June and July at live music events across the city organised by youth and open to local teenagers.
New Found Sound, now in its third year, aims to give local youth access to a fun and safe live gig space with performances by local talented musicians.
Kev Carter, manager of the YMCA Raise Up youth programme running the events, says previous New Found Sound live gigs have proven to be enormously popular for local teenagers.
“Local teenagers are craving affordable live music gigs that reflect their tastes and provide a supportive environment for themselves and their peers.
“New Found Sound also offers an exciting and much-needed space for young local bands, musicians and singers to showcase their talent.”
Last year’s New Found Sound events attracted dozens of bands and large audiences across Auckland. This year’s events feature another stellar line-up of home-grown talent sure to attract large crowds.
The event is organised by the YMCA’s Raise Up youth development programme which helps groups of teenagers aged 13 to 18 organise and run local events for youth and by youth.
This year’s 2017 New Sound Found events include gigs in west, south, north, central and east Auckland. Visit the Raise Up events page to find out more>
