How long have you been a member of YMCA?
Uhh I actually can’t remember haha ….. I think it’s been about 4-5 years with YMCA.
How has attending the YMCA contributed towards a heathier lifestyle?
It has provided me with all the resources I need to maintain the exercise aspect of a healthy lifestyle, while also providing a positive environment of like-minded people to learn from and draw motivation from, along the day to day process of whatever goal I’ve committed to at that point in time.
What keeps you coming back to the YMCA?
It’s the closest one to my house haha ….. na, in all seriousness it’s definitely the friendly staff and the positive friendly members that this gym attracts with its community focused brand.
Some words of advice to others who want to make exercise a lifestyle?
Lifestyle changes are a process that take time, require support and for me personally it requires a strong “WHY” to make it long term. Once you’re ready to make a change, the difficult part is committing and following through. So my advice would be to do your research, seek help from experts in this field and make a plan that will prepare you for success and making it a habit long term (kinda like brushing your teeth and showering, I hope haha). Careful planning means setting small goals and taking things one step at a time. The best plan is one that you can stick to and one that you can enjoy. Start small and increment small things as you gain more confidence, try and involve a mate to help with motivation and accountability, keep track of your progress and most importantly don’t be afraid to ask for support when you need it.
