It’s fun to work at The Y!
We are looking for a permanent, part time camp cook to take the reins in our camp kitchen. This is a sole charge role where you will prepare meals, cater to dietary requirements and help us ensure that all of our guests have an amazing camp experience!


What will you be doing?

  • Preparing home-made meals for campers based on a pre-planned menu and schedule
  • Catering to dietary requirements e.g. gluten free, dairy free, vegan
  • Maintaining a clean & tidy kitchen and help to clean the camp
  • Stocktake, maintaining stock levels, assisting with ordering/buying
  • Ensuring a food control plan in maintained
  • Co-ordinating with others to ensure customer & kitchen needs are met. While this is a sole charge role, our instructional team are around at meal times to lend a hand during the school holidays, as well as parents and teachers during the term camps.
  • The sound of laughter, singing & other mealtime activities while our campers enjoy the delicious food you have prepared, with the dining hall located just off the kitchen.

What experience/skills do you need?

  • Confident in cooking simple healthy home cooked meals
  • Knowledge of special dietary requirements for example allergies and intolerances
  • Excellent communication skills & a positive can-do attitude
  • The ability to roll up their sleeves and help keep the work space and camp clean & tidy
  • Physically active, happy to be on their feet all day & lift/move stock around
  • A Current Food Hygiene Certificate would be advantageous
